SUMMARY:Beyond Birth: Becoming a Parent
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging 8-week parenting workshop series for expectant or new parents. Drawing on global research in parenting education\, facilitator Tara Green has created a unique\, thoughtful series that blends research-backed approaches to help reduce stress\, strengthen connection\, and support healthy child development and overall family well-being.  \n\n\n\nInspired by leading frameworks such as strengthening partnership connection\, raising resilient and compassionate children\, and fostering emotional intelligence within families\, this series offers a well-rounded foundation for parenting. Participants will explore meaningful topics that support the development of their own unique parenting approach.  \n\n\n\nThrough guided activities and reflective exercises\, families will clarify their values\, identify their needs\, and build confidence to parent in ways that feel authentic and aligned. The series emphasizes strengthening relationships within your parenting support system—your “village”—while developing practical skills that nurture secure attachment and positive child development. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the series\, we hope families will feel more confident\, connected\, and equipped with tools to build strong\, positive relationships with their children—making the parenting journey feel more manageable\, fulfilling\, and joyful. \n\n\n\nYou can expect: \n\n\n\n– Eight 1.5 hour sessions for guided parenting partnership development \n\n\n\n– Gathering time before and after for socializing with other families\, questions and consultation  \n\n\n\n– Small group size for personalization (each cohort has 3-6 families) \n\n\n\n– Opportunity to meet other expectant or new parents \n\n\n\n– If you have a parenting partner or another person in your/your child’s life (family member\, friend\, etc.) it is beneficial that you both attend\, if possible. Single parents are welcome. \n\n\n\n– Tara will open the building at 5:10pm and families are welcome to come early. Sessions will start at 5:30. \n\n\n\n– Snacks and drinks will be provided. If you would like to bring a full dinner to enjoy before we start we ask that you finish before 5:30 to allow the space to be used for our materials.  \n\n\n\n– Optional take-home activities/reflections to continue the topics outside of workshop time \n\n\n\n– A binder of prepared material to support you in developing your parenting perspective \n\n\n\n– Opportunity to debrief with Tara if you miss a session  \n\n\n\n– Connection to Tandem community and resources   \n\n\n\n– Any fees paid by you for this course can be applied in full to a future Postpartum House stay \n\n\n\n– Session topics are drawn from research-backed approaches including highlights from popular frameworks such as the Gottman Institute\, Raising Good Humans\, The Five Principles of Parenting\, and Emotional Intelligence for Parents
