Frequently Asked Questions:
The Postpartum House is a great choice for anyone healing from birth OR welcoming a new baby into their home! Typically, baby will stay with you at the Postpartum House (with exception in case of NICU babies, surrogacy, and loss). If the baby is staying with you, they need to be safe to sleep in our bassinets (e.g. not pulling up or crawling!). Watch our calendar for Dad’s nights, which are exclusively for Dads and their babies.
If you have a baby in the NICU at IU Health Bloomington, the Postpartum House is also a great place to stay to be closer to your baby.
If you believe you would benefit from our services, and are unsure if it’s the right fit, please call (812) 727-0134 or email admin@tandembloomington.org
Rooms are intended for moms or birthing parents and their newborn(s), but partners can visit during the day and also join for meals. Dad’s Nights are exclusively for dads and their babies. Surrogates, adoptive parents, foster parents, and those healing from loss are also all welcome. Currently, the ‘Ohana room can accommodate a toddler sibling overnight in addition to an infant. Let us know if you have multiples or other special circumstances!
Although we may be able to book last-minute stays for special cases, it is best to book ahead of time for confirmation and ease. All reservation dates are adjustable without penalty because babies rarely come on schedule!
Beyond the basic services that the Postpartum House offers, such as around-the-clock support, catered meals, in-room bathrooms, and a relaxing environment for comfortable recovery, Tandem also works to create a community. Parents can connect with others who are in the same phase of life, and create long-term relationships. Our team is there to listen to your birth story and your changing relationship dynamics, figure out all the tips and tricks of infant care, and more!
Postpartum Services
Your first priorities after having a baby should be letting your body heal and getting to know the new little one(s) in your life. The more you can let your village take care of the nest, the better.
In your free consultation, we will discuss scheduling, support needs, and our sliding scale.

Direct Household Care
We create a nurturing, restful atmosphere in which parents may eat, sleep, shower, and rest. Overnight care, meal prep, errand running, and household support are just the beginning of what we offer.
