Enabah Seda
CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE
Enabah’s midwifery journey started when she looked up and saw Mary Helen Ayres about to lead her medical anthropology class. She listened attentively, and left class that day entirely re-routed in her goal to enhance the lives of women and people with holistic health care. Ready to apply to medical school, she shifted her applications towards midwifery (the profession her father prayed she would enter, naming her after the midwife who delivered her as a baby). Enabah studied to become a doula, and then spent a year volunteering with and assisting midwives in various parts of the world including Ghana, Kashmir, and Guatemala. In Guatemala, she developed a close apprenticeship with a Mayan midwife, Dona Ana, who wrote a letter of recommendation for Enabah to attend Yale School of Nursing to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing. After graduating, Enabah worked as a Certified Nurse Midwife at an urban community health center in Connecticut while continuing to work as a doula and homebirth assistant. Enabah has experienced first hand the challenges and joys of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and mothering—giving birth to five children at home and raising a special needs child.
She loves connecting with people “as they are”, and is hopeful to bring compassionate care to those who walk through Tandem’s doors. Outside of midwifery, Enabah enjoys volunteering, gardening, joining her women’s self-development group, and spending time outdoors with her family.

Katie Barrus
PERINATAL EDUCATOR
Katie is a mom, birth doula, and doctoral student living in Bloomington, IN. Katie had a long, challenging labor with her first child in 2018, luckily with a pair of angelic doulas by her side. This experience informed her of the importance of doula support, especially in a society that doesn’t typically prepare us well for childbirth.
Katie is certified as a Holistic Birth Doula through The Matrona, and she is also an Evidence Based Birth Instructor. She believes that all families should have easy access to the most recent evidence when making decisions with their perinatal care providers. She has experience supporting birth doula clients in hospital and home birth settings (and hopefully birth center settings soon!). When she is not at a birth or meeting with families, she can be found picking away at her dissertation, baking, or hiking with her three children and husband, Hasan.

She believes that all families should have access to quality, trauma-informed, evidence-based support throughout their entire journey. She also holds a special place in her heart for families experiencing NICU stays, and those residing in rural and underserved communities. Margo Brennan
POSTPARTUM DOULA
From a young age, pregnancy, birth, and babies always fascinated and resonated with Margo. As a 9 year old, she would search the shelves of Blockbuster looking for any and all movies with a pregnant person or baby on it (Look Who’s Talking, Junior, Three Men and a Baby, there happened to be a lot of these movies back in the 90s!)
After graduating from Bloomington High School North, and then pursuing a degree in Japanese and Psychology at Purdue University, Margo taught preschool in Seattle for a number of years. From there, she moved to Kansai, Japan where she continued working as a teacher.
In 2022, Margo returned to Bloomington to pursue her long awaited dream of becoming a doula. She is now a certified birth and postpartum doula through DONA International. Margo loves understanding and supporting the dynamics of each unique family she works with. In her free time, she likes to read and cycle.
