Jenni

Jenni Jurijczuk

Lead Postpartum Doula

Jenni is a mom and postpartum doula that lives in Owen County. She grew up in far Northeastern Illinois, then relocated to Indiana in 2004. She has been involved in multiple avenues of perinatal and family support following the birth of her first child in
2014. The complicated birth of her second child in 2018 and her difficult postpartum experience solidified her calling to become a doula.

She believes that all families should have access to quality, trauma-informed, evidence- based support throughout their entire journey. She also holds a special place in her heart for families experiencing NICU stays, and those residing in rural and underserved communities. sarah

Sarah Bruner

Postpartum Doula

Sarah is the child of a home birth in a small Canadian city outside of Toronto. From a young age she was told about her birth story, which included midwives, doulas, lots of bruschetta, and beautiful silk scarves. This story is still shared often in Sarah’s household and is usually accompanied by several photos and much joy.

After graduating high school, Sarah took two gap years living in England and Australia. She returned to Bloomington and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She worked the next four years as a Patient Advocate, breaking down barriers to access health care. Sarah decided to go back to Indiana University to pursue a nursing degree and become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She will start an Accelerated Nursing Degree at IU in fall of 2024. When she’s not studying for nursing school, she is often traveling the world or getting outside with her two dogs.

Jenna

Jenna Jarosinski

Postpartum Doula

Jenna is fluent in Spanish, a Certified Lactation Educator, and aspiring pelvic floor physical therapist. After confronting health issues in high school, Jenna developed a passion for studying cultural differences in perceptions of health and healing and increasing access to patient-center healthcare. Her experiences led her to study Bioanthropology and Spanish at Indiana University. In and out of the classroom, she observed the ways in which honoring the mother-baby bond could improve mental and physical health throughout the lifespan, which inspired her to focus her work on postpartum families.

After graduation, Jenna lived in Washington, D.C., Colombia, and Albania. She returned to Bloomington in 2023, hoping to establish community, serve postpartum families, and pursue her degree in physical therapy. Outside of Tandem, Jenna works at Milk Matters, shadows at the Monroe County WIC office, and is a part-time student. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, kettlebell training, cooking, and reading.

enabah

Enabah Seda

Enabah’s midwifery journey started when she looked up and saw Mary Helen Ayres about to lead her medical anthropology class. She listened attentively, and left class that day entirely re-routed in her goal to enhance the lives of women and people with holistic health care. Ready to apply to medical school, she shifted her applications towards midwifery (the profession her father prayed she would enter, naming her after the midwife who delivered her as a baby). Enabah studied to become a doula, and then spent a year volunteering with and assisting midwives in various parts of the world including Ghana, Kashmir, and Guatemala, In Guatemala, she developed a close apprenticeship with a Mayan midwife, Dona Ana, who wrote a letter of recommendation for Enabah to attend Yale School of Nursing to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing. After graduating, Enabah worked as a Certified Nurse Midwife at an urban community health center in Connecticut while continuing to work as a doula and homebirth assistant. Enabah has experienced first hand the challenges and joys of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and mothering giving birth to five children at home and raising a special needs child.
She loves connecting with people “as they are”, and is hopeful to bring compassionate care to those who walk through Tandem’s doors. Outside of midwifery, Enabah enjoys volunteering, gardening, joining her women’s self-development group, and spending time outdoors with her family.

KatieBarrus

Katie Barrus

Perinatal Educator

Katie is certified as a Holistic Birth Doula through The Matrona, and she is also an Evidence Based Birth Instructor. She believes that all families should have easy access to the most recent evidence when making decisions with their perinatal care providers.
She has experience supporting birth doula clients in hospital and home birth settings (and hopefully birth center settings soon!). When she is not at a birth or meeting with families, she can be found picking away at her dissertation, baking, or hiking with her three children and husband, Hasan.
